Achievement & Behaviour points

At JCoSS, we have a system of rewards and consequences to encourage positive behaviour and ensure a respectful and safe learning environment. Let’s take a look at the details:

Rewards:

R1: Verbal and written praise from the class teacher.

R2: Verbal and written praise from the class teacher.

R3: Postcard/letter sent home from the class teacher.

R4: Nomination for student of the month and a monthly letter home from the head of faculty.

R5: Head teacher’s commendation and a half-termly letter home from the assistant head teachers.

R6: Termly letter home from the deputy head teachers.

R7: Letter home from the head teacher, invitation to the annual awards ceremony, and a possible inclusion on a rewards trip.

Examples of Rewards:

R1: Behaving well in class, active participation, showing politeness to teachers and classmates.

R2: Outstanding homework, assisting peers in class, displaying acts of kindness like holding the door for a teacher.

R3: Impressive work in class, consistently helping others.

R4: Demonstrating several positive qualities, such as being kind, responsible, and respectful.

R5: Nurturing your talents and exhibiting most of the positive qualities consistently.

R6: Consistently embodying positive qualities throughout an entire term.

R7: Consistently embodying positive qualities throughout an entire year.

Consequences:

C1: In-class consequences, and three instances of C1 result in a C2 (within a week).

C2: 20-minute lunchtime detention.

C3: 1-hour after-school detention.

C4: 2-hour after-school detention.

C5: Either Sunday detention or a one-day isolation.

C6: Fixed-term exclusion.

C7: Permanent exclusion.

Examples of Consequences:

C1: Minor disruptions in class or form time, being late to lessons, chewing gum, lack of equipment, incomplete homework, displaying a poor attitude.

C2: Disruptive behaviour, questioning staff decisions, misbehaviour on school or public transport, presence or use of a mobile phone, persistently displaying C1 behaviour.

C3: Failure to attend a lunchtime detention, skipping lessons, persistently displaying C2 behaviour.

C4: Persistent C3 behaviour, rudeness towards staff, misbehaviour during a 1-hour after-school detention, failing to attend a 1-hour after-school detention, violating the strict rules of kashrut (dietary laws). Three instances of C3 within a half term result in a C4.

C5: Poor behaviour during or failure to attend a C4 detention, walking away from a staff member, engaging in bullying, displaying behaviour that is racist, homophobic, biphobic, sexist, transphobic, or related to any other form of gender-based abuse.

C6: Persistent C5 behaviour, poor behaviour or failure to attend a Sunday detention or an isolation, involvement in fighting or assault, intimidating a staff member, smoking and/or possession of cigarettes/lighters/alcohol, persistent bullying, inappropriate use of mobile phones, theft, graffiti, vandalism.

C7: Persistent C6 behaviour, possession of an offensive weapon, serious theft or vandalism, possession or supply of illegal drugs, violence towards a staff member.

It is essential to understand and adhere to these guidelines to maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere within the JCoSS community.
